About me

As a certified life coach and I specialize in Stress Management, specifically work-related stress and anxieties.  I have always loved helping people. It is something that comes naturally to me.  However, it was never something that I had aspired to do professionally until recently.  Currently, everyone experiences so much stress, which keeps us from really enjoying our lives.  My life has been my work for as long as I can remember I never enjoyed my time off because I had so much on the job stress that my mind always wandered back to my professional responsibilities.  I did not realize how unhealthy this was not the cost.  I have sacrificed so many close relationships, personal dreams as well as my health.  I rarely felt fulfilled, I did not have a purpose or a goal to strive towards because I did not know who I am.  All this has changed within a short time.  My first and last thoughts each day are no longer ruined by my workplace responsibilities. I celebrate this every day because this is an accomplishment that I never thought possible. My passion is to help others find out who they are at their core; what their personal purpose, dreams, and goals are, and help them figure out how they will get there.  What does this have to do with stress management, you ask?  Well, honestly, when we have a purpose and a goal that we are passionate about and we invest our energy towards, no matter how small or large: it drives us. It also gives us direction, which makes managing our stress and anxieties so much easier.

At 14 I left the comfort of my parent’s home in Quebec to go live with my brother in Toronto.  Although this might sound crazy today, I was a very independent child and there was little that I could not convince people to let me do.  I left home in hope of escaping the constant bullying I was experiencing at school.  I learned English and 9 months later, I quit school in Toronto and started working full time. This was a chaotic period of my life: trying to make a living at 14 was not exactly the “norm” at the time either. I had to deal with a lot of exploitation, bullying, and even harassment from some of those I worked with and for.  To add to my chaos when I was 15 my father left my mother and when I say left my mother, I mean left without even saying where he was going.

3 years later I got quite sick, there was no real physical reason for the illness though the doctor said the illness could possibly be psychological. At this point I went to live with my mother who had moved to Toronto a few years earlier and immediately I started to recover.  During this time I made the decision to quit my job and go back to school.  When I gave my resignation, I received an invitation to visit the company’s home office in Los Angeles.  Shortly after I arrived in L.A they offered me a job.  This adventure was all so exciting; how could I refuse? I accepted and once more I found myself having to start from.

Four years later I got married and stayed married for 8 years.  One night, coming home from work, I found a note on my bed stating that he had left and did not love me.  I was devastated.  The similarity of how my father had left my mother was very.  The realization sent me in a very unhealthy downward spin spiral. I lost 30lbs in a few short weeks weighing 90lbs when I went to the clinic.  About a month later, my ex and I talked things through and for 6 months we went to counselling trying to make it work.  Although we ended up divorcing, it was very amical and we remained friends.

In 2007 I was told that I was being laid off and with my green card being valid for working with this company only, I returned to Canada.  With my mother and brother’s help, I got a job at a Rehab center in Quebec. The Rehab helped recovering addicts from all over Canada and the USA. This is where I met my partner; he had stayed on after his program and we became fast friend; eventually moved we in together.  This relationship was met with a lot of disapproval from my family and some friends.

In 2009, I lost my job at the rehab center and a few months later my partner was laid off due to the recession.  His father had cancer so we made the decision to move to Alberta to be closer to his family.   For the first time in my life, I had absolutely no connection to find a job and I had to do it on my own. I had never written a resume before or had a real interview where I had to sell myself.  In February 2010 I was able to find a few retail part-time jobs.  In March 2010, my partner’s father past-away, which was incredibly difficult on my partner and me.

Most of my life, I have believed that it is important to get out of my comfort zone and work on becoming a better version of myself. However, my self-betterment journey really kicked off in high gear in late 2015 when I joined the management team of the bookstore I work for.  I started reading and taking in what made sense that I could apply to myself, I became close to a few of my peers and discovered yoga and meditation.  For the first time in my life I felt that I belonged  The relationship with my partner grew stronger, I managed my stress and anxiety and I finally felt that I had a purpose and goals I was striving towards.  I also had taken to helping those under my charge and my peers improve their stress management skills as best as I could.  Even though I didn’t have much, my life was near perfect.  In April 2017, my boss (whom I was quite close with), and two of my peers left the company.  At the very same time, I had a fall out with my mother.  I then applied for the General Manager position and was dismissed as not being competent enough. In short, my world unravelled, sending me into a mental spin.  Shortly thereafter I injured my leg quite badly and was unable to practice yoga and meditation. As I had done many times in the past, I picked myself up, and kept going as best as I could.  6 months later I met one of my current best friends, who helped me and my very bruised ego.  I reintroduced myself into yoga and meditation again. Everything was somewhat well with the world again and yet something was missing.

This is when I started a soul search which has led me here.  The two questions I was desperately seeking an answer to: “who am I?” and “What do I want to do with my life?”  I realized that I did not know who I was and probably never did. I certainly had no idea what I wanted my life to look like, but one thing I knew is that my current way of life wasn’t it.

In August 2019 I found Life Coaching. I researched the subject and the more I read about it, the more I felt that I was made to do that.  I did the course, practiced with friends and family, and graduated my course in March 2020.  I joined Achology, a platform that enables helping practitioners with their coaching skills, among other things.  I am building my business based on my passion, helping others manage and overcome their stress and anxiety from their work-related life. Everyone has the potential to accomplish their dreams when they are not stressed and anxious; when they have a clear vision of what they want their life to look like.

My purpose is to help those who have had their world crumble down and are dealing with the stress and anxieties that comes with it, or those who just need an extra helping hand with managing and overcoming their stress.  I strive to help others manage their stress and anxiety in the moment with processes, exercises and meditation that they can utilize “on the go”.  I help them identify and manage their stressors so they are not affected so advertently by these.  Then, I help them find a path and goal that speaks to them; goals they want to accomplish and feel passionate about, giving them a vision for their future on which they can base their decision making on a daily basis.

I am proud of who I am today because I KNOW who I am for the first time in my life. I know where my life is going and I want others to feel the same.  I hope you will take this journey with me; there is so much that we can accomplish together!

RESULTS & GOALS

What could be different if you were less stressed and anxious at work?   Really, imagine what it could be like if you:

1-      Walked in to work on a Monday morning and tell your co-workers that you are doing well, and it’s actually true, you ARE doing well, great even!

2-      Met with your boss about that super important project you’ve been working on, handing him the completed project… before the deadline.

3-      Walked into the boardroom filled with top executives, did your presentation confidently and calmly. Wouldn’t it feel good to face your audience without the anxiety?  Further the executives are loving your ideas!

4-      Came home after a day’s work and enjoyed the evening with your family, watching a great movie… because you have left work at work!

HOW I LIKE TO COACH

My coaching style is very informal and conversational.  I will ask you questions that will make you reflect on what your options are, so that you can come up with your own solutions.  Because I believe that the answers are inside all of us, but sometimes we all need a little help to direct our thoughts in the right direction.

As your coach I will hold you accountable to the actions that we decide that you will take outside of our coaching session.

I will be for you through your journey, and I like to see it as "we" are going on this journey together.

I will show up for you 100%, and I will need you to show up for yourself, be curious and be willing to step out of your comfort zone to get you where you want to go.

OFFERINGS

PRIVATE COACHING

Discovery Call:  (no charge)

Why are you looking for coaching?  We will have a conversation about your coaching goal and what this could mean for you.

Phase one:

We will talk about your stressors and anxiety triggers at work. We will explore your beliefs, values, and relationships attached to your stress and anxiety.  We will also talk about how your work-related stress and anxiety are affecting your home life. Part of this phase will be discovering a few techniques and exercises that will help you manage your stress and anxiety in the moment, helping you be more present for your clients, co-workers, family, and friends.

Phase two:

Now that we have determined what your stressors and anxiety triggers are at work and how they affect your home life, and that you can manage these in the moment, we will dig deep into your beliefs, values, and work-relationships that have been triggering these feelings. We will do this through precise processes, which will help you not only manage but also overcome some of these stresses and anxieties that you have been experiencing.

Phase three:

We have looked at those frequent stressors and anxiety triggers and have gotten a handle on overcoming these.  Because often there is more to work stress, and we want to be thorough, we will look at other things that might be creating stress:  habits that may not be helping you,  boundaries that you might have to put in place for yourself and others,  etc.  We will look at how to create new habits that will help your productivity and empower you.  We will also look at what boundaries you might need to put in place and make plans to get this in for yourself.  Boundaries and work habits go a long way to overcome stress and anxiety at work, not to mention that if you get more done at work, you might not have to bring it home!

Phase four:

Now that stress and anxiety are less prominent for you at work, lets look at your career goals.  What do you want to accomplish and how do you get there?  Through a goal setting process, we will make these real for you and establish a plan that will make it easier for you to get there.  What does goal setting have to do with stress and anxiety?  When a person has a positive goal that they are focused on and know the steps to get there, you will be more focused, and managing your day to day stress and anxiety is far easier.

PROFESSIONAL AND LIFE EXPERIENCE

I have been a manager for many years.  So, coaching is not unknown to me.  I have help many people on their journey to be more productive, to manage their daily work-related stress through my coaching.  My speciality has always been doing 1 on 1 coaching with those under my charge.  But make no mistake, I don't like to think myself as their "boss" or "supervisor".  I like to meet those I coach, weather it is on a one on one basis or a business setting as equals.  I am just here to help those I coach to gain different perspective so that they can be empowered to manage their stress and anxiety.

Having been in the workfoce since I was 14, I have had a lot of personal experience in managing stress and anxiety.  I have been on the receiving of bullying, harrassment, illness, etc on many occasion.  Each time I was able to pick myself back up, and keep going, making me stronger. Sometimes I had to do it alone, however, the times I have grown the most were those times where I had help, because I was not only able to see that the situation was not "end all", but I was also able to see where I had failed, and what i needed to do in the future so as not to fail in the same way, learning from each experience and growing in the process.

Even though my life has not been easy, I am grateful everyday for all of the experiences I have had, good and bad, because these have lead me to where I am today.
