My name is Sharon and I absolutely love life. My life hasn't always been so "perfect." I have dealt with the loss of a sibling, spouse, friends, students, and all of my parents. I have also encountered a house fire, a loss of a 24 year career, an addictive husband, a blended family, and a son who is ADD. Through all of these life changing events, I have seem my share of dark moments. Through my christian faith and the opportunity to experience a "balanced" life, I can show you how to pull it together and enjoy each day.
I have also had extensive experience in education and transition counseling. My work with parents and teenagers has covered the areas from parenting styles, to discipline, to transition from middle school to high school to the "real" world. I have worked with educators who have been at their wits end and ready to leave the profession and those who were struggling with the constant demands of public education.
During your sessions with me, we will work together to reach the goals that you want for yourself. I will help guide you to set your goals and then devise a plan to get you there. We will talk about barriers and obstacles that stand between you and what you want to accomplish. We will then determine how to break those down.
My coaching style is faith-based and one where I first listen and then guide. I will help you achieve your goals, not my goals. I will give you the tools to release your full potential. I will be a great motivator but I will also expect you to do "your" work to make the needed changes in your life. Your session is about you and what you want to accomplish. This will be a team effort.
I provide 45-50 minute sessions either by telephone or through Facetime and Skype. These can be weekly, bi-monthly or monthly.
Professionally: I have been at the bottom of the food chain and the top of the food chain. I have supervised a staff of 75+ and have been the one taking the garbage out at the end of the day, I have let my career take over my personal identity and lost a job and certification because of it. I have also seen some great successes in my professional world. I have had the honor of working with thousands of high school students and their parents through the transition phase.
Personally: I am the product of a blended family who lived below the poverty line my entire childhood. I married a man who was addicted to drugs and alcohol. I have lost a sister, husband, all 4 parents, all my grandparents, 3 close friends and 8 students to death. The house that my first husband and I built burned to the ground 14 days before he passed away. I now have a wonderful husband and we have a blended family. My son was just diagnosed with ADD. I know what it is like to be in a very dark place more ...
