Seek help on your spiritual path.

There is a very good chance you are reading this article because you are one of the many who yearn for a connection to something greater. You might be reading this because you want to get a better sense of yourself and want to infuse your life with greater meaning.

Many people find this link through a religious faith, but this is not the only way to tap into spirituality, a feeling of interconnectedness and a better knowledge of one’s true self. While prayer and religious reflection can be useful for those of faith, there are other ways that all people can connect to their spiritual selves. Simply having the desire to develop and foster one’s spiritual nature is an important first step. The following tips can help you in uncovering a more spiritual side of yourself and help you to understand yourself and others more fully.

BE THANKFUL

Take time to be grateful for all the good that comes your way. You can thank God, gods, the Universe or just the energy of life. Whomever you thank, take the time to put your gratitude out there for all the abundance in your life. Recognize that you aren’t solely responsible for the wonderful things that come your way.

Even when it feels like nothing good is in your life, find the positive things to be thankful for. Be thankful for your good health or sound mind. Be thankful that you and your loved ones are alive. Be thankful for a roof over your head or a full stomach. Try to take time each and every day to give thanks, and you might even consider keeping a gratitude journal where every morning or evening you write down all the abundance in your life.

BE CONSIDERATE

Try to treat everyone the way you would want to be treated. Be kind, caring and compassionate to those you meet regardless of who they are and how they treat you. The golden rule has the reputation it has for good reason.

Sometimes it can be hard to be kind or considerate to someone who doesn’t treat you with respect or kindness. Before you react to them with the same disregard they have shown you, take a moment to remember that you all are spiritual beings and living creatures. Be considerate no matter what.

CONSIDER COACHING

Spirituality coaching is a great way for people of all faiths (including none) to get in touch with spirituality. It can sometimes be tough to tap into a spiritual mindset if you aren’t religious, and a coach can help to lead you through.

Working through spiritual coaching can help you to start seeing yourself as more than just you. Coaches provide you with techniques and tools that you can use to progress onward in your spiritual journey more quickly and purposefully than you would otherwise.

GET STARTED

You will never get in touch with your spiritual nature if you ignore it. Begin being thankful and considerate; also consider working with a coach.

Talk to others about their spirituality, beliefs and faith. Do some research. Remember that you are part of something much greater that is beyond your comprehension with every move you make.

I grew up in a strict Roman Catholic household. However, the older I got the more I started questioning my faith. 40 years down the road, although I've relinquished the religion I grew up with, I find that I'm a lot more spiritual now than when I was religious. I don't mean to offend anyone but at the end of the day, it's all about being a good person. Julie, you made some good points in your article above: be considerate and thankful--they will help you find some form of spirituality.
