Caring doesn't have to mean cuddling. It does mean seeing the people around you for what they are and what they need.

You can't fake caring, either you want those around you to succeed as much as you want to yourself or you don't. People who feel cared for, reciprocate. They'll talk to you more easily and listen with much more attention.

Better yet they'll tell you what they really feel and be prepared to offer you a little benefit of the doubt too.

Action step: Ask yourself how can you demonstrate you care? And then do it.

In answer to your Action Step question, you can demonstrate you care by making an effort to speak to the person in need. For example, if you know that a colleague is going through a hard time at home, stop by her desk and offer your help. You can offer to babysit her kids for the weekend while she figures things out, or even do something small like buying her a latte to cheer up her morning.
