Request a free consultation Contact MeHello! I’m Naila, a certified From Grief to Gratitude™ coach, as well as a death midwife and interfaith minister. I’ve been fascinated by the way we do (and don’t do) grief as a culture since I lost my dad in 2012. That year was one in a series of losses that also included the death of a father figure, the end of a long-term relationship and leaving behind an 18-year career as a print journalist. Becoming intimate with grief has been a profound, heart-opening, life-altering journey for me. And it's inspired me to want to create and hold space for others to walk through that wilderness. To do my part to normalize grief. To be a compassionate, loving presence for the grieving as they learn to integrate and move through life with their loss.
I give my clients permission to grieve and support them in moving forward with their goals for a life that integrates their loss while inviting new meaning, purpose and a chance to craft their legacy -- all as they honor their loved one in the ways that matter most to them.
I believe coaching is about deep listening, asking insightful questions and guiding clients on a journey of self-discovery. I'm not here to give answers or tell you how to grieve. But I will offer tools, exercises and self-inquiry prompts to help you gain clarity and awareness around your struggles, your goals and the progress you'd like to see as you learn to carry your grief with greater strength, self-compassion and a sense of possibility for your life.
Coaching can be done weekly or biweekly via one-hour phone sessions. A commitment of at least three months is recommended but not mandatory.
Additional offerings including informational sessions about grief, writing through grief sessions and workshops centered around grieving at the holidays.
I come to this work honestly, through the experience of my own loss and grief. My dad died in 2012, the year after my mom lost her partner and a few years before I'd lose another father figure in my life. I know grief is hard, bewildering, exhausting and profoundly transformational in ways we do and don't expect. I also know we need more spaces that normalize and acknowledge that we don't move on in grief; our losss remain a part of who we are and inform the lives we live. But we can choose how we honor those losses and integrate them into our everyday, and that's what I'm here to help you do.
I also have more than a decade of experience as an interfaith minister and officiant, performing weddings, baby blessings, funerals and other life rituals. Additionally, I am certified as a death midwife, supporting the dying and their families at the end of life.
