On May 14, 2018 at the age of 32, I lost my husband to gun violence. He was 34, and we still had the rest of our lives together. For some time, I felt a huge part of me died that day. I remember crying my heart out trying to make sense of my new reality because we just had a conversation earlier that day. For awhile, I could not see myself past the hurt. I lived in a dark place and lived my life going through the motions just to get by. It took a lot of strength in me to want healing within the brokenness. I look back at my husband’s life and saw the impact he made within the surrounding community. My husband was a businessman, yet he did what he could to help those around him without expecting anything in return. The countless stories of the lives he touched makes all the difference in where I am going now. He is an inspiration as to why I want to help others succeed in life through their own happiness and not by the pressures of society. I believe wholeheartedly that we can choose to be happy within ourselves and that’s where it should start. In my grief, I found many reasons to love life again, and I hope to guide you on a journey that will give you the opportunity to do the same.
