As a life coach, I’m here to help you to strategize for specific goals, navigate life transitions, and learn how to establish more structure in your daily life. Sometimes, you’ll hear us called a personal coach, personal development coach, wellness coach, step-mom coach, etc. No matter the name, it all means the same thing!

I’ve helped clients in a variety of ways, like:
- Figuring out their career path and pursue their dream job
- Rebuilding their life after a major break-up
- Creating a healthy and balanced blended family
- Navigating their role as a new step-mom
- Improving their relationships – platonic and romantic
- Finding a schedule that works best for their family and implement it
- Working through stressors to relieve anxiety and replace it with joy and excitement

When you’re my client, I’m your go-to girl! We have scheduled sessions, but I’m also here for you in between each session – if a stressor comes up that needs immediate attention, or you get an amazing job offer and need to work through the contract and negotiations. My goal is to walk with you as you dream of, create, and live out your best life ever. We will start with a goal or set of goals, create a plan, implement it and make changes, and I’ll be there to celebrate with you when you’ve accomplished it!

As the client, it’s your responsibility to buy in to what we’re doing. Life coaching is an investment in yourself! To help you make sure it pays off, you complete homework and to-do lists between sessions, talk openly and honestly with me, and give me feedback every step of the way.

Plus, it’s LIFE coaching. There is more to you than just the one issue that made you called me. If you are about to graduate and move home with your parents and are nervous about what that looks like, that doesn’t include just you; me, you, and your parents can have a session to make a plan that works for everybody.

Long-term committments are usually a great option for coaching clients! We offer 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month packages.

I’m Theresa. From the time I was a little girl, I’ve always loved helping people and listening to their stories. I’m naturally pretty introverted, so small-talk is on my list of no-no’s, but hearing about someone’s dreams, struggles, goals, and achievements is one of my favorite things to do.

Like most of my clients, I have struggled with some heavy hits in life – depression, anxiety, divorce, loss, and sexual assault – but also felt so much joy – getting remarried, becoming a Step-Mama, publishing my book, getting my then-dream job, and chasing my dreams. Each experience taught me about transitions and how important it is to live a life you truly love. I’ve followed that passion my whole life, and eventually it led me to open Happy Go Lucas so I could provide life and career coaching services.

I contemplated a variety of career options from teacher to pediatrician to event planner, until I found a College that melded all of my dreams together – the College of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at Iowa State University.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Child, Adult and Family Services with experience working with collegiate student-athletes, single moms, school-age children, and families with preschoolers. While I earned my Master’s degree in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education, I worked with collegiate student-athletes. I spent 5 years in higher education working with collegiate student-athletes in college-level professional development, navigating the student-to-professional transition, improving time management and organization, and managing their academics.

After getting a divorce and leaving the world of Division-I athletics, I continued my career in higher education helping students and adults to achieve holistic success. At the same time, I began working on more of my passion projects. In late 2018, I began writing my book, “With These Words: A Poetic Memoir of Love, Loss, and Self-Discovery” and published it in 2020. Through poetry and personal recollection, it details my experience how I found joy and strength despite living with Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, grief, and loss.

Then, in January 2020, I founded Happy Go Lucas, LLC. This company allows me to work with and serve hundreds of people as a life and career coach. The lessons I’ve learned in life, plus my formal education, continue to help me create and live a life I love. I can’t imagine ever going back to a place where I dreaded going to work each day, or was unhappy in a relationship, and I don’t want that for you either.
