I have walked an unconventional path and always looked at things differently than those around me.  As a child I coped with my differences by hiding behind my big sister and letting her be my interpreter to the world. I struggled with deep depression and was hospitalized several times as a teen for suicidal feelings and attempts.  Working with psychiatrists, therapists, taking psych meds….gave me no relief and I felt more alienated.

There was a turning point. I remember finding a self-help book of my mother’s and tried out one of the techniques.  I closed my eyes and did an internal scan of the light in my body.  What I found was profound.  This was my first step toward healing and discovering my gift of being an “energy person”.  I can see and feel energy.  This can make it difficult to be “normal” and fit in.  Since then I have been discovering more and more tools to use my gift to help myself and others.

My family life was challenging and I moved out on my own when I was fourteen in inner city Minneapolis.  I found a community of people who also viewed and interacted with the world differently.  There were a lot of good times and a lot of trauma.  I experienced sexual trauma, physical violence and extreme poverty and I also experienced joy, artistic expression, love, and humanness.  I always loved the feeling of freedom and spent time in my twenties riding freight trains and hitchhiking around the country.  Sometimes I would stay in a town for a while and lived off from the money I made playing music in bars, cafes, or on the street. 

Throughout all of these adventures I worked to balance my energy.  I am very sensitive so it was necessary to spend time each day check in with my energy, connecting to my source, and disconnecting from unhealthy energies I picked up throughout the day. There were times when I fell out of practice and paid the price, my mental and physical health would crumble. Eating healthy, getting regular exercise, juicing, my knowledge of herbs, artistic expression, and boundaries were all part of the self-care that kept me afloat. 

I had a drive to use my health care techniques to help others! I started practicing and teaching Reiki and I became a yoga teacher but I had a hard time connecting with people in the verbal realm and getting the word out about my work. Marketing was not what I felt driven to do!  I decided at the age of thirty to get a formal education so that I could learn how to be a “normal” human and interact with confidence with people who were not “energy people”.   I wanted to be able to walk in both worlds with ease.  I graduated with highest honors with a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling. Fast forward, and here I am! I have worked with hundreds clients, using my uniques skills and conventional skills to create profound change in people’s lives.  It is  truly an honor.  I love being able to be 100% authentic with my clients and for them to feel safe to be weird while we walk down the path of their healing together. 

Jeannie has studied health and wellness for more than thirty years. She has worked with hundreds of individuals as a therapist, an energy healer, yoga instructor, inner child integration coach, teacher, and life coach.
