Some days are harder than others. Maybe you are tired, maybe you are feeling discourage or overwhelmed, or maybe you are going through a stressful time. On days like this, it can be hard to get the energy to get projects started, hard to feel accomplished, and maybe even hard to stay focused.
If you are having a low energy day, don't underestimate the power of a 5 minute task. Five minutes is less than one half of one percent of your day. You can find 5 minutes to tackle a small task and a lot can be accomplished in 5 minutes (e.g. a load of laundry started, a dishwasher emptied, a phone call returned, an e-mail sent).
Chunking any task into small, 5 minute mini-goals can help kick start productivity. It makes big tasks more manageable, and less intimidating.
Tackling small, quick components can get the ball rolling on progress and productivity. Plus, the momentum of accomplishing even one small task can energize you into more successes.
