SELF DISCOVERY means self awareness. It means questioning, "Who Am I?"

Why should you self-discover?

  • Eliminate jealousy 
  • Less judgmental
  • Open mind to what you have and options
  • Gain access to ways to reach and achieve goals
  • Personal insight / reflection on self

​*REMEMBER: Be Aware of Labeling

In our journey of self-discovery, it’s also important to be aware that labels can hinder the growth of a person. When we label ourselves something fixed, finite and static (as is the nature of dead words), then it does not allow for us to change or to grow. Belief in labels can also influence your behavior, limiting what you think you can and can’t do based on what that label specifies. Many people feel empowered by the labels they attribute to themselves, but the difference amongst those who pursue the path of Involution is that there’s much greater power in feeling limitless, unbounded and unconfined.

The more you Self-Explore and Self-Discover, the more you’ll move down the path of Self-Understanding. But whenever you make the mistake of thinking you have arrived at the conclusion of “I found myself! I know who I am!”  Ask yourself this, “Who is it that knows?  There would have to be two people within me to know myself: the ‘Self’ and the ‘Knower’ of that self.“

  • Journal | write your thoughts out in a journal

1. What do you value?

  • Keep Integrity in mind 
  • Know your golden rules
  • Something that helps make decisions with clarity
  • This is what makes you, You!

2. What are your strengths and weaknesses? 

  • Increases resilience
  • Decreases stress
  • Builds confidence
  • ​*Sidenote: It's important to know your weaknesses. Knowing them allows you to tackle them and get in front of them before they weigh you down. 

3. What are you thankful for?

  • Gratitude = happier life
  • Make a habit of being thankful; the more your practice the easier it becomes
  • The small things count

​4. Do you have a fixed mindset or growth mindset?

  • A fixed mindset limits your opportunities 
  • A growth mindset expands your horizon
  • Grow your brain (density); the more you learn the more you capable of achieving

​5. Do you have Resilience?

  • Perceive challenges / setbacks as manageable
  • Emotionally stable
  • Awesome coping skills; that do not involve drugs or alcohol
  • Energy for life
  • Open minded
  • Build others around you 

Being resilient

​RESILIANCE means having the mental capability to recover rapidly from challenges, setbacks, or hardships. It means having mental toughness. 

What are the Benefits of Resilience:

  • Able to balance life successfully
  • Able to take action to overcome challenges
  • Able to seek help and support when needed 
  • Able to listen to self and relay on inner self 
  • Able to develop a sense of self worth
  • Maintain Positivity 
  • Purpose

  • Cultivate supportive relationships 
  • Accepting change and moving forward
  • Take decisive actions 
  • Keep things in perspective 
  • Hopeful outlook

​SELF GROWTH means going through an ongoing process to fully understand self by taking steps to learn new skills and overcoming bad habits. It means "if you know better, you do better" and learning to reach your fullest potential. 

Why do we need Self Growth:

  • To build confidence to achieve goals and define purpose(s)
  • To become more positive by changing mindset
  • To become a responsible person
  • To become more mature
  • To become Successful
  • To become Happy

​What is the process to gain self growth on a continual basis:

  • Get out of your comfort zone (mentally and physically)

​Lastly, what are the Four Stages of Self Actualization:

Self actualization is moving through a process from unaware of how much you know to implementing what you’ve learned.

If someone doesn’t know there’s a problem, he or she is less likely to engage in the solution. On the other hand, if someone is in conscious competence, he or she may just need additional practice rather than training.

Stage 1: Unconscious incompetence | Unaware of how much you know

Stage 2: Conscious incompetence | Aware and understand the need to know and learn more

Stage 3: Conscious Competence | Have learned a new skill but needs to but it to work

Stage 4: Unconscious Competence | Knowledgeable and experienced in new skill is achieved
