If you are struggling with negative thinking, it is a good idea to challenge the thoughts.

  1. Identify the problem
  2. Identify all possible solutions
  3. Evaluate pros and cons
  4. Select a solution
  5. Make a plan

Stopping and taking stock in this way allows you to take control. I know that when things are challenging it isn’t easy to be rational about our thoughts; however, that is the only way to start making changes.

Bringing mindfulness into your day is really helpful with this as it allows you to become the observer of your situation instead of being a victim of it. Coping strategies are key to moving forward and changing thoughts that are potentially holding you back and perpetuating destructive cycles.
